Other Stuff from December

I know some people who read this are not on Facebook, so I am putting up some miscellaneous photos from the month of December!

We have officially entered the "fake smile phase"

Jake loving on his "be be"

Jake makes this face when he does something he thinks is funny.

The Farmers got Eric this big firehouse for his birthday. They both love it!

At Great-Grammy's. We're just missing Evie (and Zaley, too, I suppose!)

He put on Eden's fur coat and told me he was a "different kind of Santa."

Christian and I took Eric to the theater to see the new Chipmunks movie on his birthday.

Christmas Weekend 2011

I cannot believe it has already come and gone this year! We had a busy, wonderful time of spoiling the kids, being together, and celebrating our Savior's birth! I only remembered to take photos sometimes, so hopefully other people captured the events I forgot...
Phase One: Christmas Eve Morning at Mom & Dad's

My brother, John, has been living in Brooklyn for the past couple of years, and is now returning to help out on the ranch. He and a buddy left New York Monday morning to drive across the country. We enjoyed the vicarious road-trip via Facebook, and were all on the edge of our seats as to whether he would make it for Christmas when he got stuck in snowstorms in New Mexico. But thankfully, he arrived safely as the sun came up on Christmas Eve morning!

The kids enjoyed opening thier presents and Mom made a delicious brunch, including three different quiches... Mmmm. Nicole also came down and joined us, which was really fun.

Chrishy and the babies

All the kids had a present outside from Santa. Eden got a bike.

Eric also got a bike.

Sophie got a shopping cart.

Jake got a wagon.

Eric fake smiling.

Handsome guy.

All the gifts John gave this year he got from different stops along the way on his drive. They got a coon-skin cap, Indian drum, slingshot, rubberband gun, feather headdress and more.

Also this sombrero.

Phase Two: Christmas Eve Dinner at Dave & Linda's
This is where we get to enjoy a lot of traditional Swedish foods like cabbage rolls, Swedish meatballs and some sort of fish jello which I have yet to try (I hear it's lovely, though). I did not take any pictures here.

Phase Three: Christmas Eve Service at Church
I had nursery duty this year, and it was nice to get to stay with the boys and listen to the Christmas music over the loudspeakers. Christian and another guitarist played "Silent Night" for the candle lit portion of the service, like they do every year. What a beautiful tradition!

Phase Four: Christmas Eve Dessert at Gramma's
After we got back from church we all reconvened at Gramma's house for dessert, coffee, mulled wine and a gift exchange. This is always really special, because it's something we've done since I was little. The kids did great, even though we didn't get home until after 11pm. (Again, no pictures)

Phase Five: Christmas Morning at Home
The four of us celebrated together on Sunday morning.

Green Ring-Pop!

Just Chillin'

Eric took a break from presents to read his new book.

When I was little I had this game, "Marble Madness". I absolutely loved it and so far the boys do too!

Phase Six: Christmas Morning at Bob & Wilma's
Then we headed down to San Marcos to celebrate with Christian's side of the family. The McCarthy branch was sick, so we missed seeing them. Paul and his girlfriend were in town from Portland, and the kids liked playing with them. After gifts we ate a yummy brunch. Then we had some down time before dinner. I took the boys for a drive so they would get some naps.

Cousins playing so nice together!

Princess Jake borrowed his cousin's tiara.

A little pooped.

Phase Seven: Christmas Dinner at Bob & Wilma's
The Farmers came back and we all enjoyed a delicious prime rib dinner to cap off the holiday festivities!

What a busy and wonderful weekend we had remembering our many gifts, and the One who gave them to us!

Eric is Three!

Our sweet Eric Robert,

There are days as your mom that I count down the minutes 'til bedtime and wonder what in the world I should be doing differently. But I know that the spirit that drives me to my breaking point is the same spirit that God will one day use to move mountains! Your heart and your excitement for the world around you are amazing. I love experiencing things through your eyes. You are smart, funny and you love with all your heart. I am challenged every day as a person because of the job God has given me to bring you up in the way you should go. It is my joy and honor to be your mom! Happy Birthday, we love you!

Craft Shows

This past weekend, my mom and I had a booth at Bate's Nut Farm. She has been awesome, and my sister, too; going to these shows and helping out in a million ways. This is the 5th craft show we've done this fall. As most of you know I have been selling t-shirts for kids for about a year or so. Mostly to friends, but also on Etsy and at these craft shows. After this fall, I can say with great conviction that these shows are a lot of work! Weather, crowds and sales are pretty unpredictable. This one went pretty well, but it wasn't like we sold out of anything. I think I have decided to maybe do one or two a year, and otherwise just stick to the trickle of sales from Esty and friends/family.

Anyway, that's just an update on me and what I'm doing with Sunshiney Day...

Pomegranate Picnic

This morning on our way to coffee at Gramma's, we stopped to pick some pomegranates. We could only find 4 on the whole ranch that the birds hadn't gotten to yet. When we got home we set up a tarp outside and had a pomegranate picnic. The boys hadn't tried them before. Eric liked it but wasn't patient enough to eat them for very long. Jake loved them though and devoured his for a long time. I'd say the stained pink faces and fingers were worth it for this yummy snack. :)

Shark Party!

Last Sunday we had Eric's 3rd birthday party. He chose a Shark/Sea Animal theme. It was really fun to plan his party this year because he is aware of it and got so excited about every little detail. Here are some pictures from the fun afternoon!
