I heard this idea in a devotion or a lecture several years ago and it always stuck with me: A family built a home and when they were working on the foundation phase, they wrote down some scriptures and put them inside the bricks to symbolize building on the foundation of God's word.
Well, we missed the brick wall phase of our home's set-up and I think it would be a little tricky for the 4 of us to crawl under the house now and attach anything to the bricks…
So, we decided to write some verses on the sub floor before the carpet goes down. We chose several scriptures that were particularly special to us, and that represented our desires for our life and family as we start this next chapter. We picked verses for the rooms that address our desires and prayers for the kids' lives, as well as for our marriage .
This was the passage from our wedding ceremony
The boys "helped" us write and decorate. It was a little nerve wracking to let them walk around the freshly painted walls with permanent markers! But they did fine. :)
It was so cool (and a little emotional) to walk through the house together and pray over each verse and acknowledge the source of the blessings and provision in our lives, and ask for God's guidance for our family in the coming years!
