Family Vacation

Yesterday evening we got home from a week long stay in Los Osos, CA, which is about a 5 hour drive north of us, near San Luis Obispo.

To kick things off, Christian got a bee sting at work the Friday before we left. In case you didn't know, he is super allergic to bees. Not anaphylactic, but he gets really swollen and it often leads to cellulitis. This meant that when he came home, he had to sit on the chair with his foot up on ice and pop Benadryl all night. And morning. Thankfully Wilma spent the night at our house that night, since we were all leaving early in the morning, so she was able to help out with the kids while I finished up packing and getting ready to leave. She also deep-cleaned my stove. Because she's Wilma, and that's what she does. :)

Both kids had (have) colds. You know you're in for an exciting vacation when you pack the humidifier! ;) We got on the road Saturday morning and I only ended up driving a short while, but other than that Christian was awesome and drove. I spent most of the time in the back pulling tricks out of my bag to keep both boys happy and entertained. They did really well and the drive was beautiful!

We stayed at the entrance to Montana de Oro in a beautiful house. None of us quite expected it to be as nice as it was. We all had plenty of room and Eric got lots of practice with stairs, since it was three stories. The first night Wilma had the flu, which was a huge bummer. She started feeling better the next day though, thankfully, and no one else got it.

Most of our time was spent at the house "relaxing" (as much as possible with the 4 little ones). We also made several day trips to do sight-seeing. We spent a day in SLO walking around shops and the mission; and one day at Avila Beach, which was pretty much the only really sunny day we had. It was pretty overcast at the house and most of the places we visited. We drove up by San Simeon and saw the elephant seals. Another day went to Morro Bay and walked around and went to their aquarium. The evenings were filled with lots of Trivial Pursuit, and "What I Like About You" games.

For our date night Christian and I went to a really yummy restaurant in Morro Bay called The Galley. After that we drove out to Montana de Oro, where we got engaged and sat on the beach for a while. We were going to have Nicole take our pictures out there, but we just never got around to it. One afternoon my friend Shellie from high school, who lives up near there, drove out with her kids and neice and we all played at the beach together. It was really fun to catch up and hang out. I took no photos. :-/

Oh, one thing I didn't mention: We ate. And ate. And ate. What else are vacations for, right?

By the end of the trip most of us had caught the boys' cold. Jake was pretty miserable most of the time not only from his cold, but also from cutting two big front teeth, and working on a couple more on the bottom. So yeah, not a ton of sleeping or relaxing, but what a wonderful week! We are very blessed to get to do things like this and with such an amazing family!

**Rather than put all my photos up again, I am just going to (try to) link to my facebook album, where I already uploaded them all.

Little Fish

This afternoon I looked at the clock and saw it was only 3pm (I thought it felt more like 5pm). I decided that was waaay too long ‘til bedtime and we needed to go somewhere! We decided to run over to the ranch and go swimming at Gramma’s. It was really only Eric’s third time swimming this year, but he is a natural! He gets those water-wings on and he can swim all around the pool by himself. He also jumps into the pool from the edge (over and over, and with great abandon). He had a blast and so did Jake, though he was a little more mellow about it. He was so relaxed floating around, every once in a while he’d lay his head down like he was going to go to sleep.

Wheeeee!

We rolled the windows down in the car on this nice, hot afternoon and stopped to pick peaches and plums on the way off the ranch. I love taking my kids to the same pool where I learned how to swim, and letting them do some of the same fun things… Including going down to get cookies from Gramma after our swim!

4th of July Weekend

We just finished up a fun-filled 4th of July weekend! Sunday we spent the afternoon at the Farmers. We had a yummy BBQ, and in between fights and time-outs, the kids had lots of fun playing together. After dinner Uncle Jason filled up the pool. The kids had soo much fun; including Jake, who crawled back and forth over and over again. He loved playing with the big kids and didn't even mind getting splashed.

Here Gracie and Eric are waiting patiently for the pool to be ready.

Taking a picture of these 4 with Oma was not an easy task.

This kid is pure Joy!

They're both watching something intently :)

Remnants of some dirt clods he was snacking on :-/
Today we spent the afternoon at my Gramma's house. We got to swim in the pool, which was heaven on a hot day like today! The kids had a blast and so did the moms and dads :)

Here are the three moms and three babies. Below is the picture of us from last year, when those three were in our bellies for our 4th of July swim :)

They were pretending to watch TV. They were telling eachother what shows were on and what was happening on the show.

Cute boys

Kid Pile.
There were a lot of those today. The results were lots of sweaty kids and dirty faces. Oh, and one bloody nose :(

Evie is not so sure about this Baby Trap. Or the little boy next to her.

Jake reassures her by pulling her hair a little.

Babies and snackies.

What a fun weekend! The boys had so much fun that Eric was asleep before we left Gramma's driveway, and Jake was asleep before we were off the ranch. This year we are skipping fireworks and enjoying a little peace and quiet as our boys snooze away. We have so much to be thankful for, including this country and the freedoms we have here.

May & June 2011 Videos

The Rest of June...

These are the rest of my photos from June. None of them really merits thier own post, so I'm lumping them all together!

I signed Eric up for a tumbling class. He really doesn't get it. There's a lot of waiting and taking turns and he sort of tunes out, but parts of it he really likes...

This was at the SD County Fair. We had lots of fun and Eric got to see some animals but good grief there were a lot of people there!!

On the ferris wheel.

We had dinner at Las Olas afterwards.

Christian putting Eric down for the night.

Playin' in the dirt!!

Jake!

See those top teeth ready to pop through!?

Summer Sunday

Most Sundays after church we spend the afternoon at Wilma's. The boys absolutely love hanging out with Oma and Poppa. Last Sunday was beautiful and warm and we had a wonderful time enjoying the outdoors. These are just a bunch of photos of our adorable boys playing in the sun!

Love, love, love, love, love! :)
